CerMark is available in several forms liquid, spray can, tape and screen print. The sections below will describe each application method.
This chart shows the expected amount of area you can cover with CerMark spray cans or liquid that is sprayed on. Spraying on the liquid version of CerMark is much more cost effective than spray cans if you need to coat a lot of parts or a big area at one time.
CerMark in spray can form is the most commonly used. Easy to just grab and spray your item. Be sure to shake for 2 minutes before use. If the can is not shaken enough it can clog. If you have a clogged can it is probably clogged at the bottom of the straw in the can and cleaning the spray nozzle will not help.
Liquid CerMark can be brushed or sprayed on with an airbrush or paint sprayer gun. The material is shipped in a concentrated form and meant to be thinned prior to use. Thinning amount will vary depending on which CerMark coating you are using and if you are spraying or brushing it on.
For larger volume application. This is more cost effective than spray cans. Can be sprayed on with an airbrush or HPLV paint sprayer gun like this unit Binks.
Available at many hardware, hobby and auto parts stores. This do-it-yourself aerosol kit is an easy way to get started spraying CerMark. The Preval Sprayer retails for under $10. http://www.prevalspraygun.com.
Best for applying to small areas. Foam brush should be used instead of a bristle hair type brush for best results. Review material technical sheets for proper thinning prior to brushing on.
6018 is a dry tape version that comes in several different width size rolls. The tape can be easily cut or ripped into different sizes. Commonly used to add an ID number on parts or metal tags.
Screen print application is fastest, most cost effective, least waste and most consistent way to apply but that is used mostly for higher volume applications. Coating 6012 is the only version for screen print. 6012 is a version of 6000 that basically has less alcohol that makes it dry fast instead has oil so it will not dry out on the screen press. As a results heated drying recommended for best mark results. See 6012 product notes for more details.
